Soccer Study Guide

1) The Basics

Two teams, 11 players each (1 goalkeeper + 10 outfield).
Match = 90 minutes (two 45-minute halves) + stoppage time.
Objective: score by getting the ball completely over the goal line.
No hands for outfield players (except throw-ins); the goalkeeper can use hands in the penalty area.
Common restarts: kick-off, throw-in, goal kick, corner kick, free kick, penalty kick.
Offside: attacker is ahead of the ball and second-last defender when the ball is played to them (simplified).
